TIMESHONGKONG, MAGETANEathouse Gallery Caruban as the Cultural Gallery and Cafe keep trying to preserve the local wisdom through holding some food Festival. After conducting the yellow coned rice, this gallery just held a gethuk Festival or Festival gethuk in their gallery.

Getuk is a Javanese dish made from cassava. The cassava is peeled, boiled and mashed. Then it is mixed with grated coconut, sugar and small amounts of salt. Sugar can also be substituted with palm sugar to give it brownish color and distinctive taste.

The Festival was held at Jalan Diponegoro 1, Caruban, Madiun, East Java. There are around 1000 pieces of gethuk served for free for all the visitors of the Festival.

"Gethuk has it's own philosophical meaning. Gethuk is a short name for anget yen wis kephetuk, means this dish will melt the cold way during a gathering or meeting," Musa, the one who had the idea of holding the Festival said on Saturday (10/8/3019).
